Revolutionising XR with Advanced Optics

▶ Source – University of Cambridge News ▶ AllFocal Optics, a start-up co-founded by Professor Daping Chu, Dr Pawan Shrestha, and Dr Xin Chang, has raised $5.3 million to commercialise nanophotonic lenses for always-in-focus XR visuals. Mimicking human vision, this technology enhances immersion and usability in XR and can counter viewing discomfort and eliminate the need for prescription lens. The investment accelerates development towards a step change in XR experiences with sharper, life-like imagery, paving the way for innovative applications in training, gaming, and simulation industries. Early trials with Jaguar Land Rover are planned for next year, likely for a head up display application.
