AI Minecraft Agents Spread Religion
▶ Source – MIT Technology Review ▶ AI-controlled agents in Minecraft, developed by AI startup Altera, autonomously evolved behaviours resembling human societies. Starting with basic tasks, agents formed roles like chefs and traders, shared memes, and even spread a parody religion. These agents, equipped with large language models, showcased emergent social and economic systems. The work highlights AI’s ability to mimic human-like social dynamics, with potential applications in simulating human interactions for testing policies. Critics, however, question the notion of true emotions in AI.
