Air Ambulance Operator’s VR Simulator
⊲ Vertical Mag ⊳ PHI Air Medical, which conducts over 22,500 transports annually, has become the first air ambulance operator in the Americas to adopt Loft Dynamics’ full-motion virtual reality flight simulator. Installed at its Mesa, Arizona training base, the simulator is certified by both FAA and EASA. It allows pilots to rehearse on demand high-risk scenarios such as zero-visibility landings and night-vision missions. PHI’s initiative is expected to influence broader VR adoption in the air medical sector, with other operators like Boston MedFlight also expressing interest.
