Army Reboots AR Headset Plan
⊲ National Defense Magazine ⊳ After feedback from soldiers led to dissatisfaction with Microsoft’s original IVAS headset, the U.S. Army has restarted its augmented reality programme under the rebranded Soldier Borne Mission Command (SBMC) initiative. Anduril and Rivet Industries are now developing prototypes, with Anduril’s EagleEye offering an integrated helmet and software system, while Rivet focuses on lightweight, glasses-based solutions. Both designs prioritise modularity, soldier comfort, and open architecture for future scalability.
