British Army’s XR-Controlled Drones

UK Defence Journal | In a recent exercise at Fingringhoe Ranges, British Army soldiers have been honing their skills with advanced First Person View (FPV) Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) as part of Project Lewes, which aims to integrate cutting-edge technology into military tactics. These FPV drones, flown using virtual reality headsets, offer enhanced manoeuvrability and can carry small explosive charges, allowing for precision strikes similar to “kamikaze” attacks. The training, involving units like the 16 Air Assault Brigade, highlights the military’s focus on adapting to modern combat scenarios with more adaptable, cost-effective technology.
