Drone Pilots’ 50:50 Live:Simulator Training

Business Insider ⊳ Ukrainian soldiers have shared insights with the British Army on drone warfare training, indicating that a minimum of 60 hours with 30 on simulators and 30 in actual flight is necessary for pilot competence. This collaboration occurred during the UK’s Operation Interflex, aimed at training Ukrainian troops. The British Army has established a “drone hub” for training, repairs, and production of drone parts, reflecting a shift towards integrating drone technology as essential for modern warfare. One battalion, 1st Battalion of the Irish Guards, has embraced the shift, with roughly 78 of its 300 soldiers now qualified as drone pilots or instructors, supported by dedicated facilities.
