Mini Screen Reaches Eye Resolution

New Atlas ⊳ Swedish researchers have developed a groundbreaking screen, termed “retina e-paper,” that mimics the human pupil’s size and achieves over 25,000 pixels per inch, comparable to the density of photoreceptors in the human eye. Made with tungsten oxide “metapixels”, the screen switches electrically between metal and insulating states, producing images via reflected rather than emitted light. This could lead to ultra-compact, high-fidelity displays for applications like VR and AR, and possibly contact-lens displays, though practical development remains some way off.
