Open Standards for 3D Worlds – Latest
⊲ Khronos Group ⊳ The open standards Khronos Group is strengthening OpenXR and glTF (“the JPEG of 3D”) to support cross-platform spatial computing and simulation. OpenXR 1.1 elevates features including Local Floor Reference Space and Foveated Rendering to its core, with full body tracking, enhanced haptics, and controller models on the way. glTF’s roadmap introduces richer Physically based rendering (PBR) materials, procedural textures, physics, interactivity, spatial audio, and USD support, reducing the barriers for developers to build immersive, interoperable and responsive 3D environments for diverse applications.
