RoboBallet Turns Code Into Choreography

⊲ Interesting Engineering ⊳ UCL, DeepMind and Intrinsic have unveiled RoboBallet, an AI that synchronises robotic arms using reinforcement learning and graph neural networks. By running countless simulated rehearsals, it learns to plan up to 40 tasks across eight arms within seconds, a sharp contrast to traditional human assisted programming that handles fewer robots and takes weeks. Though still experimental, RoboBallet could transform factories by making robotic systems more adaptable, efficient, and quick to reconfigure when layouts or tasks change.
