Simulation Drives Embodied AI
⊲ Sources ⊳ Skild AI chief Deepu Talla sets out a case for building a general-purpose “brain” for robots that can operate any hardware and perform varied tasks. Drawing on academic work at Carnegie Mellon and Berkeley, he argues physical intelligence, not language alone, underpins true AI progress. To overcome limited robotics data, Skild combines large-scale human video with physics-based simulation. The company which recently raised $1.4bn at a valuation of over $14bn, plans to work with industrial partners to accelerate deployment in sectors such as manufacturing and logistics.
