Troops’ Untethered Operational Training
⊲ Halldale Group ⊳ Soldiers from the UK’s 6 Regiment (RLC) have undertaken operational training using an untethered, free-roam VR system called AVRT (Adaptive Virtual Reality Training). The system allows users to move naturally through immersive scenarios, building familiarity with complex team tasks. Furthermore, the system allows instructors to create realistic training scenarios that adapt to soldiers’ skills, including urban tactics and techniques and trainees can review their performance through 3D replays. This proof of concept trial could signal a broader shift in how mission-specific training is delivered. The AVRT system is now available for purchase or rental.
