Your Wrist Can Control

Tech Xplore ⊳Meta’s Reality Labs team has developed a wristband that uses surface electromyography to translate tiny muscle movements into digital commands, enabling gesture control without physical touch. Described in a paper published in Nature, the AI-trained device recognises finger movements, including mid-air writing, with no user-specific calibration and is being trialled for accessibility use, particularly by people with paralysis. It marks a step towards more intuitive, screenless interaction with digital devices.
