NASA Simulation Shape Artemis Launch

NASA ⊳ NASA reports that engineers used its LAVA (Launch, Ascent, and Vehicle Aerodynamics) simulation tool, drawing on Artemis I launch data, to study how SLS exhaust, air, water and the launchpad interact. The modelling showed the sound suppression system reduces pressure waves, yet redirected water can raise pressure in parts of the mobile launcher. That work helped teams refine launcher design pressures for Artemis II, and NASA plans to release LAVA to the wider aerospace community.
