US Army IVAS – Luckey Returns to his XR Roots
⊲ PC Gamer ⊳ Anduril Industries, an American defence technology company that specialises in autonomous system and co-founded by Palmer Luckey, is taking over production of the US Army’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) from Microsoft. Microsoft will continue providing cloud and AI support but is stepping back from hardware development. The IVAS program aims to enhance soldiers’ battlefield capabilities through integrated augmented reality. Former Oculus Founder Luckey envisions a future where military technology extends human abilities, allowing for faster and smarter decision-making. “Not just day and night and thermal and ultraviolet, but peering into an idealized interactive real-time composite of past, present, and future that will quickly surpass traditional senses like vision and touch.” he wrote in his blog.
