VR Gloves May Replace Airport Pat‑Downs
⊲ Daily Mail ⊳ The US TSA (Transportation Security Administration) is trialling a “touchless pat-down” system using VR and haptic gloves to identify threats at airport security checkpoints. Officers would wear headsets and gloves while sensors scan a passenger’s body, creating a contour map that reproduces the feeling of touch in virtual reality. The concept aims to protect privacy and reduce physical contact. Still in early development, the system, the Wearable Sensor for Contactless Physical Assessment or WSCPA, is backed by a patent and seen as potentially useful beyond airports, including medical training.
