Meta Pivots to Ultralight XR

⊲ UploadVR ⊳ Meta is reportedly shifting its XR focus to develop an ultralight headset called Puffin, expected to launch in late 2026. This new headset will use a tethered computing puck, making it lighter and more portable, resembling bulky glasses and weighing under 110 grams. Unlike traditional headsets, Puffin will not have controllers but will use gaze and pinch gestures. The two previously leading candidates for a Quest 4 series, codenamed Pismo Low and Pismo High, have been cancelled, sources suggest, while the next candidate for a traditional form factor Quest most likely won’t ship until 2027.
