Drones Add Oversight to Live Training

Halldale ⊳ The Australian Army recently tested the Enhanced Personal Area Network (EPAN) during Exercise Keldie Cup to modernise urban combat drills. This wearable laser system replicates weapon recoil and sound digitally, removing the need for traditional blanks. Troops and vehicles receive instant feedback on simulated hits, while drones employed by Cubic monitor the battlefield to coordinate mortar strikes. By cutting out the requirement for human adjudicators, the technology allows for autonomous training in various locations and offers a flexible way for units to sharpen their tactics without the usual logistical constraints of dedicated live-fire ranges.
