Open 3D Browser Powers Spatial Interaction
⊲ GamesBeat ⊳ The Metaverse Standards Forum and RP1 have launched Sneeze, the first open-source metaverse browser engine, released under the Apache 2.0 licence. Built for spatial computing rather than 2D documents, it enables proximity-based service discovery, secure multi-origin 3D scene composition, and real-time co-presence across AR glasses, VR headsets, phones, and desktops. The University of Rochester has also launched the Open Metaverse Academic Alliance to support research and standards development. RP1 plans to release the first native metaverse browser powered by Sneeze later in 2026.
