VR System Manages Drone Swarms

Hackster.io ⊳ reports that researchers at Oregon State University and SIFT, LLC have developed a virtual reality system enabling a single operator to manage over 100 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The Immersive Interactive Interface (I3) employs the Unity game engine, SteamVR, and the Valve Index VR headset to provide high-level command capabilities, allowing effective oversight of large UAV swarms without overwhelming the operator.
