“Autofocus” Glasses Could Replace Bifocals

TechRadar ⊳ Finnish startup IXI has unveiled a prototype of “autofocus” glasses that automatically adjust focus in under 0.2 seconds using eye-tracking sensors and liquid crystal lenses, potentially replacing bifocals and progressives. Backed by $36 million, the system aims to remain lightweight and fashionable, though hurdles include regulation, battery life and durability. Competitors like Laclarée and Elcyo are also in development, but no consumer-ready models are available just yet.
