AR Breathes Life into Old Toys

TechXplore ⊳ Researchers from Scottish universities have developed AZRA, an augmented reality system that overlays expressive features onto older robot toys and pets. Using devices like Meta Quest, it adds faces, thought bubbles, lights and sounds, allowing toys to display emotions, respond to touch, and even adapt their mood to match the owner’s energy. The project aims to extend the life of robotic companions and reduce e-waste by re-animating existing devices.
