Touch-Activated Graphics Made Real

⊲ Tech Xplore ⊳ University of California, Santa Barbara researchers have developed a screen that visually and physically renders 3D-like graphics using light-powered optotactile pixels. When hit with a laser, these air-filled pixels bulge, creating shapes users can feel. Without embedded wiring, the system offers a tactile experience using light-induced heat. Potential applications include automotive controls, interactive architecture and future mobile devices.
