EU Invests €200 million in Virtual Worlds

European Commission ⊳ The European Commission has launched a European Partnership on Virtual Worlds under Horizon Europe to coordinate research, innovation and deployment of immersive technologies. Bringing together industry, academia and public actors, the partnership supports interoperable virtual environments, standardisation, skills development and industrial uptake across sectors. With a projected market growth from €27 billion in 2022 to €800 billion by 2030, the partnership includes a €200 million investment from the Commission, matched by the Virtual Worlds Association, led by Siemens and composed of 18 founding members.
