Inter-World Portaling System Event
The Open Metaverse Alliance for Web3 (OMA3) hosted a virtual event on November 27, 2024, to introduce its Inter-World Portaling System (IWPS) draft standard. This framework aims to enhance digital interoperability by enabling seamless transitions between various virtual worlds, functioning as a 3D equivalent to web hyperlinks. Designed to operate across both Web2 and Web3 environments, IWPS facilitates user movement between applications on different devices, serving as a universal application launcher. The speakers included Roderick Kennedy, Co-Chair of OMA3’s Portaling and Mapping Working Group, and Alfred Tom, Executive Director of OMA3.
