Is AR the Future of FPV Drone Control?

⊲ Hackaday ⊳ FPV drone flying with augmented reality (AR) combines both the drone camera’s view with the ability to see physical surroundings, enhancing situational awareness, safety and interaction. This article reports on an inexpensive and easy to implement set up by Hoarder Sam for the Meta Quest 3/3S that only costs $350. The technology is demonstated in this YouTube video. By connecting an analogue drone video receiver to the headset and installing the free Meta HDMI Link app, users can overlay the FPV video feed into their real-world view. Such inexpensive innovation demonstrates what can be achieved by integrating off the shelf technologies in novel ways.
