Large-Scale VR Blossoms in China
⊲ Immersive Wire ⊳ China’s large-scale VR sector is expanding rapidly, with over 100 new projects launched in 2024. Large-scale VR are virtual reality experiences that allow multiple users to move freely within a large physical space, often spanning hundreds of square meters. Unlike traditional VR setups that are often confined to smaller areas these experiences, also known as “free-roam VR” or “LBE VR” (Location-Based Entertainment VR), enhance immersion and interactivity through advanced tracking systems, haptic feedback, and interaction-ready environments. Experiences like “New Peach Blossom Spring” use scent, wind and movement to retell cultural myths. Fuelled by AI, real-time localisation and strong IP integration, these attractions are spreading globally, with exports planned to London and beyond.
