Physical Interaction With a Hologram

⊲ New Atlas ⊳ A team of Spanish engineers has developed the world’s first interactive 3D holographic display, called FlexiVol, which allows users to physically manipulate holograms using gestures similar to those on touchscreens. This innovation employs elastic diffuser strips to create the holographic images without requiring special glasses. In tests, participants found interacting with the holograms more intuitive and accurate than using traditional 3D mice. Future improvements may include haptic feedback to enhance the user experience.
