Training and Rehearsal for RAF Pilots
⊲ Aerospace Global News ⊳ The Royal Air Force is upgrading pilot training at RAF Valley with new virtual and mixed reality devices for its Hawk T2 and Texan aircraft. Eleven existing training devices have been enhanced, allowing student pilots to practise in a realistic virtual environment whilst still interacting with a real cockpit. The system shifts the focus from procedural training to mission rehearsal, and is expected to save up to £4 million annually whilst boosting the number of combat-ready pilots for front-line squadrons. The RAF is also addressing pilot shortages and exploring options, such as introducing Indian flight instructors.
