This innovation could enhance virtual and augmented reality experiences by integrating taste. The system uses an ‘electronic tongue’ to analyse taste chemicals in food or drink, transmitting this data to a receiver that delivers the corresponding flavours to the user’s tongue. Tests showed up to 87% accuracy in flavour identification, though sensations like spiciness and fattiness remain challenging.
