Simulation, Training and Operations Converge

Halldale ⊳ ITEC 2026, held at ExCeL London in April, brought together military practitioners, NATO officials and industry against the backdrop of conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Air Vice Marshal Ian Sharrocks argued that training has become a decisive component of operational capability and that data literacy is a warfighting skill. With inexpensive drones achieving the majority of Ukrainian kills, Wing Commander Ben Goodwin warned that air superiority is now layered with the lower drone-saturated battlespace almost impossible to dominate. Sir Stuart Atha noted that technology outpaces doctrine, widening the gap training must close.
