Swiss Simulation Startup Backs Latvia Drone Training

⊲ LIAA ⊳ Swiss startup nordfen AG has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with “Drone Force Europe” to develop drone simulation technologies in Riga. Nordfen, which originated from the ETH Zurich innovation ecosystem, will build simulation software using geospatial and Earth observation data to create realistic virtual training environments. Drone Force Europe will supply practical training infrastructure and instructor expertise. Chairman Viesturs Silenieks said the simulator will support Latvia’s armed forces, State Police and State Fire and Rescue Service, with training data stored securely in Latvia. LIAA is backing nordfen’s local establishment.
This news indicates the drive towards more formalised approaches to drone training for both military and non-military users.
