$30m Simulation-AI-Drone Convergence Bet

⊲ Tech.eu ⊳ Founded this year, UK-based defence startup Agon has launched with $30 million in funding to build a platform training AI-powered autonomous weapons in virtual battlefields. Founded by former Anduril director Tristam Constant and Cambridge Aerospace co-founder Junaid Hussain, the London and Berlin based company helps counterdrone systems and other weapons practice against simulated threats. The funding combines a $7 million pre-seed raise from Lakestar, 201 Ventures and D3 with a $23 million seed round led by XYZ, Lux Capital and Northzone. The Agon team includes individuals formerly from Applied Intuition, Google, Helsing, Palantir, Amazon and Unity.
This funding appears to support the convergence investors are seeing in simulation, AI and uncrewed systems, and comes after Shield AI’s acquistion of defence simulation software company Achelon Technology earlier this year.
