Some of the Tech Behind British Army Training

⊲ The Guardian ⊳ Skyral, a UK company spun out of Improbable, is part of the Omnia Training consortium that won a £2bn Ministry of Defence contract to help train the British Army using digital twins of real cities such as Riga. Co-chief executive Naomi Hulme, formerly of BAE Systems, describes the simulations as “Fortnite on steroids,” designed to model second-order consequences of battlefield decisions, such as how a missile strike affects fleeing civilians or power supplies. Power Size Technologies is separately modelling military energy systems for the UK.
These developments build on a rich past of related activity in NATO, the US and UK.
