Eye Tracking Measures Pilot Airmanship

⊲ Varjo ⊳ UK training technology company Cineon’s TACET-M was trialled with RAF trainee pilots at RAF Cranwell, combining Varjo XR-4 mixed reality headsets, eye tracking and AI to assess airmanship. The “Empathic Learning Engine” system analyses visual scanning, attention management, workload responses and decision-making behaviours that instructors can find difficult to quantify. Tested during simulated flights in a Grob Prefect T1 training device, the technology could help instructors identify performance issues earlier, improve assessment consistency and reduce costly late-stage training attrition.
