Rifle Becomes New Drone Controller
⊲ Military.com ⊳ The US-based startup PYRRHUS Aeronautics has developed LADRS, a rifle mounted device that lets soldiers control drones through weapon movement rather than a handheld joystick or tablet. CEO Elad Amar said the idea came from his combat experience and aims to keep soldiers engaged in combat. The unit weighs roughly 286 grams, mirrors the size of an existing laser aiming module, and includes an integrated laser designator. Amar said an inexperienced tester flew a drone within five minutes. The company plans a drone agnostic version by late 2026 and a second, classified product with a defence prime.
Cutting drone training to under an hour could let ordinary infantry units field reconnaissance drones without dedicated specialists.
