Korean Simulator Supports Emergency Flight Practice
⊲ Halldale Group ⊳ The Republic of Korea Army has fielded a new KUH-1 ‘Surion’ flight training simulator. Developed by Korea Aerospace Industries under a December 2023 contract, the simulator replicates adverse weather, engine failures and emergency scenarios more realistically than existing systems. Features include a visual out of window display, an identical cockpit, control loading, seat vibration, environmental audio and an instructor station for scenario management. The Surion helicopter has served South Korea’s armed forces since 2012.
Replicating engine failures and adverse weather points to a growing emphasis on emergency preparedness for Surion crews.
