Training Data Targets Safety Risks

⊲ Halldale ⊳ Evidence-based training (EBT) uses real airline data, such as safety reports, flight data and assessment results, to decide what airline crews should practise. European regulator EASA says it does not tell airlines how much weight to give each source of data or how long to wait before judging results. Raghoonundun Gunputh of Lufthansa Aviation Training says cabin crew training is still early in this shift, and argues that vague findings such as poor workload management must be broken down into specific causes before training can fix them.
◂ Gunputh’s call for granular taxonomies hints at a future in which each simulated exercise is designed less as a test and more as a diagnostic instrument. ▸
