Vision Pro’s Surgery World First

⊲ TechRadar ⊳ Apple’s Vision Pro has been used in the world’s first cataract surgery assisted by a mixed reality headset, with Dr Eric Rosenberg completing the procedure at SightMD in New England in October 2025. Using an app called ScopeXR that he also developed, surgeons view operations in immersive stereoscopic 3D with real-time overlays and pre-operative data. Remote experts can join any procedure from anywhere in the world. Dr Rosenberg has since performed hundreds of operations with the headset, and while the Vision Pro faces challenges in the consumer market, this signals it may have a significant role in future healthcare.
