Boys Weaponising Smart Glasses Against Girls

⊲ Futurism ⊳ Teen boys are using smart glasses to secretly film classmates and teachers, with Futurism finding numerous videos involving harassment and bullying of girls. Footage recorded in classrooms, corridors and cafeterias is being posted on TikTok and Instagram. One boy with over 64,000 combined followers repeatedly filmed girls pleading with him to stop. Meta removed many videos flagged by Futurism and highlighted its built-in recording light. Several US school districts are now banning smart glasses amid concerns over privacy, bullying, cheating and classroom disruption.
⊲ Meta’s built-in capture light did little to stop the behaviour, seemingly undermining the company’s own defence that transparency features prevent covert recording. ⊳
