AR Helmets for Faster Triage
⊲ DVIDS ⊳ Georgia Tech biomedical engineering student Alissa Klein is researching augmented reality glasses for military medics during an internship at Naval Medical Research Unit San Antonio. Her work aims to integrate AR technology into Role 1 medic helmets, displaying live positioning and live health data to support faster battlefield triage. Klein is conducting the research through the Office of Naval Research’s Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program, which gives STEM students practical experience alongside Navy scientists and engineers.
⊲ Faster casualty triage through AR glasses would matter most in the first minutes after injury, exactly when Role 1 medics (the first level of formal medical care in military operations) have the least time to spare. ⊳
