Daily 3D Maps for Uncrewed System Navigation

Space Daily ⊳ Vantor, the Earth observation company formerly known as Maxar, has launched WorldView 3D, a service producing daily updated three dimensional maps of Earth accurate to 15 centimetres. Built from a constellation of ten satellites, the product targets autonomous drones and weapons that navigate by matching onboard cameras to preloaded terrain when GPS signals are jammed. Standard resolution reaches 50cm; the HD tier reaches 15cm with three metre positional accuracy. Analysts note the technology raises fresh questions about shutter control during conflicts, following Vantor’s restricted imagery release during the Iran campaign.
Daily refreshed terrain models let drones and autonomous weapons navigate without GPS, making Vantor’s maps a potential strategic layer of modern warfare.
