Potential Civil-Military AR Crossover
⊲ Road to VR ⊳ Palmer Luckey, founder of Anduril and Oculus, has revealed a prototype pair of compact augmented reality glasses believed to be under development at Anduril, claiming they deliver wide field-of-view, full-colour stereo AR rather than basic smart-glasses features. The design appears far smaller than current standalone devices, prompting questions over whether processing and battery functions are handled by an external unit. The prototype may be linked to Anduril’s EagleEye programme and its partnership with Meta on military XR technologies.
Meta’s involvement suggests Luckey’s glasses could inherit optical engineering resources well beyond a typical startup project.
