Simulation + Brain Stimulation Boost Memory

A study by Switzerland’s EPFL researchers has shown that combining virtual worlds with non-invasive deep-brain stimulation (tTIS) improves spatial memory in healthy adults. By stimulating the hippocampus, subjects demonstrated enhanced recall and navigation in virtual environments. This technique, tested with fMRI imaging, could aid cognitive therapy for dementia and brain trauma patients without drugs or surgery, showing promise as a non-invasive memory aid.
