Virtualware Buys Manchester Visualisation Firm Virtalis

VR.org ⊳ Spanish software firm Virtualware has agreed to acquire UK Manchester’s Virtalis, paying 5 million euros at completion. Virtalis is a profitable, twenty-year-old visualisation software firm serving defence and infrastructure sectors with products like Visionary Render. Its clients include BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin and Rolls-Royce, and it reported 4 million euros of revenue with 19 staff. The UK Cabinet Office cleared the deal under the National Security and Investment Act in May and completion is expected in September. The acquisition will make the UK Virtualware’s largest market, lift overseas revenue to 78 per cent and strengthen its position in enterprise VR, engineering visualisation and digital twins.
⊲ With the NHS separately tendering an estimated 40 million pounds of immersive technology, a shrinking supplier pool could leave fewer independent bidders for public contracts. ⊳
